Traccia quietly traces where you go so the places and moments that matter are never forgotten. That only works if you trust us with something deeply personal — your location. This policy explains, in plain language, exactly what we collect, why, where it lives, and how you stay in control. We collect the minimum we need, and we never sell it.
01Who we are
Traccia is built and operated by A Good Husband, an independent studio based in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. Throughout this policy, “Traccia,” “we,” “us,” and “our” refer to A Good Husband as the controller of your personal data for the Traccia app. There are no investors, advertisers, or data partners involved — the app exists to serve you, not a third party.
For any privacy question or request, contact privacy@traccia.life.
02What we collect
We collect only what the app needs to build your timeline and keep your account working. This is the complete list — nothing else is gathered.
| Data | Why we collect it | Ads / tracking? |
|---|---|---|
| Precise location | Recorded passively in the background to build your personal place timeline, trips, and map. This is the core function of the app. | No — never |
| Email address | To create and secure your account, sign you in, and let you recover access. Also used to personalize your in-app experience. | No — never |
| Device identifier | To associate your account with your device for sync and security. | No — never |
| Crash & performance data | Diagnostic information when something goes wrong, so we can fix it. Not linked to your identity. | No — never |
We do not use any data for advertising, and we do not track you across other apps or websites. We do not collect your contacts, browsing history, or any data category not listed above.
03How your data is protected
Privacy in Traccia is built into the architecture, not added on top:
- Encrypted on your device. Your location records and the on-device database are encrypted at rest using AES-256 (via SQLCipher). Sensitive fields and photos are encrypted with AES-256-GCM before they ever leave your device.
- Encrypted in transit. All communication between the app and our servers uses TLS (HTTPS). Nothing is sent in the clear.
- Stored in the European Union. Account and sync data is hosted on infrastructure located in Frankfurt, Germany (EU), under the protections of EU data law.
- Minimal by default. We request location permission only after showing you what the app does, and we collect only the fields listed in Section 2.
On encryption: Traccia uses only standard, published encryption (TLS and AES). It contains no proprietary cryptography and is not designed to circumvent any law.
04How we use your data
Your data is used solely to provide and improve Traccia for you:
- To build and display your personal timeline, trips, places, and map.
- To create, secure, and recover your account.
- To personalize your experience within the app (for example, the mode and content you see).
- To diagnose crashes and improve stability and performance.
We do not use your data for advertising, profiling for third parties, or any purpose unrelated to the app you chose to use.
05Sharing — and what we never do
We do not sell your data. We do not share it with advertisers or data brokers. We do not use it to track you across other services. There are no exceptions to this.
We use a small number of infrastructure providers strictly to operate the app. They process data only on our instructions and only to deliver the service:
- Supabase — secure account, authentication, and sync infrastructure (EU, Frankfurt).
- Sentry — crash and performance diagnostics (not linked to your identity).
- Apple & Google — app distribution and, if you choose it, single sign-on.
We may disclose data only if required by a valid legal obligation, and only to the minimum extent necessary.
06Keeping — and deleting — your data
Your data is retained only while your account is active. You are always in control:
- Delete everything, anytime. In the app, go to Profile → Your Data → Delete Account. After a short two-step confirmation, your account and associated data are queued for permanent deletion on our servers. This is a real in-app deletion path — you never have to email us to be forgotten.
- Cancel a deletion during the brief grace period if you change your mind.
- Diagnostic crash data is automatically discarded on a rolling basis and is not tied to your identity.
07Your rights
Depending on where you live, you have rights over your personal data, including under the EU/UK GDPR and the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA):
- Access the personal data we hold about you.
- Correct inaccurate data.
- Delete your data (also available directly in the app, see Section 6).
- Object to or restrict certain processing.
- Receive a copy of your data in a portable form.
We do not sell personal information, so there is nothing to opt out of in that respect. To exercise any right, contact privacy@traccia.life. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
08Children
Traccia is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect data from anyone under the age required by their local law (16 in much of the EU, 13 in the United States). If you believe a child has provided us data, contact privacy@traccia.life and we will delete it.
09International users
Traccia is operated from the United Arab Emirates with data hosted in the European Union. When you use the app, your data may be processed in these locations. We apply the protections described in this policy regardless of where you are.
10Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we will update the date at the top of this page and, for material changes, notify you in the app before the change takes effect. Continuing to use Traccia after an update means you accept the revised policy.
